My name is Ken Pruitt and I am the lead learner at Kiski Area Upper Elementary. On behalf of the teachers and staff at KAUE I would like to welcome you to our school. Here at the upper elementary we like to say that we are #KiskiPROUD. As I move into my third year as your principal I am excited to truly explore what being PROUD means and how we can continue to weave the ideas of Kiski PROUD into a culture that fully supports all learners.
If you enter our building you will notice posters on the wall spelling out our program. Of course posters are nice, but as the old adage goes, if you are not intentional with your practice then the poster is not worth the paper it is printed on. In order to move Kiski PROUD from a focus on the expectation of behavior to a guiding principle that potentially influences our decision making, we all must address what PROUD means to us.
For me it is very simple. I know that “pride” is both a feel of satisfaction and the proper term for a social group of lions. As both an educator and a father it is my hope that all children find strength within themselves and support from the group around them. I am positive that any parent would consider their school successful if we could all just leave with those two things. My promise to you and our students is that I will continue to nurture an environment where it is both safe and celebrated for all students to explore their passion.
Have a wonderful school year. If you wish to contact me and talk about a child in your life please do not hesitate. We are all in this together and I would love for us to be a team when it comes to the future success of our community. You can contact me by phone at 714-727-3421 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org If you would like to speak in person please make an appointment so that we can make sure that I am prepared to fully address all of your needs.
